Sidra Khalid
Advocacy Specialist
I joined BRAC Europe in 2022 after gaining significant experience in the international development sector in both Pakistan and the UK. My role as Advocacy Specialist is to support our work to engage, influence and advocate with and amongst key stakeholders and decision-makers in Europe.
Just before joining BRAC, I was working at World Food Programme in Pakistan on a maternal and child nutrition project where my role was to produce and coordinate strategic field-level, donor and beneficiary behaviour change communications to increase visibility and uptake under the Government of Pakistan’s social protection and poverty alleviation programme, Ehsaas. I have also consulted for Asian Development Bank and WaterAid on gender, social safeguards, disaster risk management and community approaches to total sanitation.
In the UK, I have held several roles in communications, event management and capacity development in global organisations working on sustainability and natural resource governance. My professional interests include writing, project communications, gender, children’s rights and poverty alleviation. I hold an MSc in anthropology of development from Durham University. I’m very pleased to be part of BRAC because of its unique position as an organisation that started in a developing country and has now expanded globally, as well as its successful and innovative approach to development problems.
