BRAC University to host Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships (2026-27)

The University becomes the sole Bangladeshi host for 2026/27

Date: 27 Nov 2025

BRAC University has recently been selected as the sole host university in Bangladesh for the Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships (QECS) for the 2026-27 award cycle.

The QECS are administered by the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and offer the scope to undertake a two-year master’s degree at a low or middle-income Commonwealth country. The scholarships are open to applicants from across
the Commonwealth.

Scholars will be supported to develop their knowledge and skills, and learn how to apply them to create change in their communities so that they can contribute towards solutions to global challenges and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Open to applications till 14 January 2026, the scholarship includes fully-funded tuition fees, living allowance (stipend), return economy flights to the host country, one-off arrival allowance and a research support grant (on request and subject to approval).

At BRAC University, the scholarship is being offered on four programmes—the Master of Public Health, Master of Development Studies, Master of Education in Educational Leadership and School Improvement and Master of Science in Biotechnology.

Eligible candidates will need to meet academic requirements and admission criteria set by BRAC University.

“Bangladesh is a country with solutions to many world issues; this is a fine opportunity for students from Commonwealth countries to build contacts here and to experience a new culture,” said BRAC University Registrar Dave Dowland.

BRAC University joined the ACU in 2021, thereby becoming part of a distinguished global network of more than 500 universities across the Commonwealth.

The membership provides access to thematic networks and communities and conference grants, fellowship opportunities, collaborative research and institutional partnerships across the Commonwealth.

By becoming the only QECS host institution from Bangladesh, BRAC University underscores its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education), 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
